This excursion starts from our office at 6:00 am., driving towards estancia “Complejo Torres del Paine” where we will begin the ascent to mount Cerro Tenerife.
The hike up is done looking for the best way through shrubs, then a dense lenga (Southern beech) forest and across several streams; the final stretch is a quite inclined rocky slope that leads to the intrusive dike at the summit 1,650 m.a.s.l.. From there the views are amazing: the Andes, lakes and channels, the mountains and spires from Torres del Paine National Park, and glaciers from the Southern Patagonian Icefield can be seen on a clear day. Towards East, the endless pampas, and mounts Castillo, Ventana and Campana. Further in the distance, the jagged silhouette of Sierra Baguales, totally beautiful.
The return is done following the same way, to our transport that will take us back to Puerto Natales. This ascent is rated as a high difficulty one and will take a whole day; the spectacular views, plus the sense of vastness and freedom, will fully reward the effort.
